I did a small talk about RAY in a work event. Audience was senior tech folks who were exploring moving to my company. In all my previous talking events, I had to practice a lot and I would not be able to engage the audience quite well. This time, I was talking about something I was building day-in, day-out and I could paint a great picture of all things that worked and that didn’t. I could anticipate all the questions that the audience had in mind and would could intrigue them.
Most of these events are dull and usually networking focused. But interestingly I got a lot of good questions and I could answer them with ease. I could sense that this is still a hard problem in the industry and my team has gone through a lot of cycles to get it right. Had a good feeling after the event and was proud of what we had built. I don’t know what clicked this time - was it in-depth experience? was it the freshness of the topic? or was it just me growing up? I feel I can now talk about my work with more clarity and confidence
